夫婦と元気あふれる子供たちのための富山県に建つ家である。
子供の成長と共に家族が大切な時間を過ごせる場は何かと考えた。検討を重ねるなかで、南庭に降り注ぐ光を大窓を介して室内に取り入れ、時間や季節の変化を映し出す大きな勾配天井のあり方を考えることが、流れゆく時間の背景になるのではないかと感じた。この天井は通常用いる梁よりも繊細な梁を反復させることにより、美しい光の陰影の微細な変化を感じ取れる計画とした。シンプルな操作ではあるが天井という一つの要素を超えて、家族と共にある存在として生活を彩る。北陸の環境であるからこそ機能する素直にあり方だと思っている。

A house in Toyama Prefecture for a couple and their energetic children. We asked ourselves what kind of place would allow the family to spend meaningful time together as the children grow. Through repeated study, we came to feel that drawing the light pouring into the south garden indoors through a large window — and shaping a great sloped ceiling that reflects the shifting of time and seasons — could become the backdrop to the family's passing days. This ceiling is composed of beams more slender than those normally used, repeated in sequence so that the subtle, ever-changing shadows of light can be felt throughout the space. Though it is a simple gesture, the ceiling goes beyond being a single architectural element: it becomes a presence that lives alongside the family and gives color to their daily life. We believe this is an honest, unforced form that works precisely because of the Hokuriku environment.
